E-Club BBQ

Today we attended a barbeque hosted by the E-Club at a park high up in the mountains above Morioka. A lot of people attended! In addition to the E-club members, the SICE students and their host families and most, if not all of the current ALTs were there. They divided us among 6 big grills. Each group cooked a variety of grilled meat and yakisoba. We lucked out and got assigned to a grill with Roberto’s family- the owners of the ryokan where the students stayed during their on-site orientation. Daisuke cooks for a living, so he manned the grill for our group.

 Catie had a nice time playing with the other children. She made a new friend who shared his trains with her.

We brought our new bubble gun and a few bubble pipes and a whole bunch of the kids had fun playing with bubbles.

Then a bunch of us went to explore the obstacle course built near the picnic shelter. Catie saw no reason she shouldn’t participate with the big kids!

It started to rain towards the end of the BBQ, but Catie kept dry Totoro-style :-)
